Well Pump Service in Bend, Oregon
Our shop is on Tumalo Road, just outside Bend. It is where we have been based since 1987, and it is the market we know best.
Bend sits at the center of the upper Deschutes Basin, on layered volcanic rock — basalt flows, cinders, and ash left by the Cascades. That geology holds a great deal of water, but it holds it unevenly. Depth to water can differ sharply between two properties on the same road, which is why a pump specified off a neighbor’s system is so often the wrong pump.
Most homes inside the city limits are on city water. The wells are out past the edges — Tumalo, Alfalfa, Deschutes River Woods, the acreage off Powell Butte Highway, and the properties spread along Skyliners and China Hat. Those are the systems we spend our days on.
What Bend well owners run into most
- A water table that keeps dropping. USGS and Oregon Water Resources Department monitoring has recorded declining groundwater levels through the middle of the basin around Bend and Redmond since the 1990s. A pump set at a depth that was comfortable twenty years ago may now be sitting close to the pumping level, and the first symptom is usually air at the tap on a hot afternoon.
- Hard starts on rural power. Long service runs and summer storms are hard on submersible motors. Surge protection and a low-pressure cut-off cost a fraction of a motor several hundred feet down.
- Freeze damage. Bend winters find every uninsulated wellhead, exposed pressure tank, and line that cannot drain.
- Undersized pressure tanks. The single most common reason a newish pump fails early anywhere in the basin.
